In its second year, the AMPLI-Calf Technology Tanbark Challenge, hosted by Land O’Lakes Purina Feed, named six winners at the 2010 All American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and 12 winners at the 2010 World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. The owners of the highest placing spring, winter and fall calves fed calf starter containing AMPLI-Calf Technology were recognized for their show ring success and received a $250 cash prize.
Domino's Pizza is introducing a brand new pizza to its American Legends(R) specialty pizza line that will make cheese lovers rejoice. This is the first new product Domino's has introduced in 2010 - the last being the launch of its 'Inspired' pizza and change to its core hand-tossed recipe, which took place last December.
The Wisconsin 6 Cheese is the first extension to the American Legends specialty pizza line, which showcases iconic tastes from across the country, and will feature cheeses from a place recognized by consumers for its expertise in all things cheese. Q. How would you address producers who say, “Do we really need supply management in your plan?”
A. “First of all, it’s not a supply management program. We have a market management program that we’ve designed, and it’s called the Dairy Market Stabilization Program. We’ve designed a package of items that would cover the broad spectrum of dairy policy.
The Dairy Business Association (DBA) announced that Five Star Dairy, LLC of Elk Mound, Wisconsin was selected to receive the 2010 DBA Environmental Excellence Award. This award was developed to recognize a Wisconsin dairy producer in honor of its outstanding waste and pollution prevention projects that protect Wisconsin's natural resources.
The Big Ass Fan Company was named as one of the winners of the 2010 We CARE Awards for its dedication and commitment to the Lexington, Kentucky, community. This prestigious award recognizes local businesses that encourage employees to become involved as volunteers in their communities.
As a follow up to the August 5 multi-state meeting in Athens, Tennessee, dairy producers from Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas returned to the table on Sept. 9 -- this time in Atlanta, Georgia -- where they voted to form the Southeast Dairy Coalition.
Three producers from Florida, and one from Alabama, who had attended the August meeting in Tennessee, were unable to make the September meeting in Georgia; however, they each indicated their keen interest to participate as the coalition moves forward. The group is also reaching out to South Carolina and Louisiana to bring the number of states to 11.
