World Dairy Expo 2011 adds warm welcome for cattle exhibitors

Dairy Cattle exhibitors traveling from across North America will get a warm welcome to this year’s World Dairy Expo. The Dairy Cattle Show, featuring more than 2,500 head of elite animals, will be held Oct. 4 through Oct. 8 in Madison, Wisconsin. Dairy cattle owners and their staff of bovine beauticians will be bringing their best cattle to World Dairy Expo to compete for honors and to network with fellow dairy producers. The owners and caretakers of these top-notch animals will be treated to a tasty Exhibitor Welcome Barbecue early in the week as they pack bedding, feed and settle their cattle in for their week-long stay in Madison. The Exhibitor Welcome Barbecue, for dairy cattle exhibitors only, is planned for Sunday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Estrumate Sale Pavilion. Merck Animal Health has committed to sponsoring this Dairy Cattle Exhibitor event and the Estrumate Sale Pavilion through 2013. Merck’s support of Expo’s Dairy Cattle Show and exhibitors is part of its overall support of Expo as a Five Star Sponsor.

CFI’s Food System Summit to host food animal well-being breakout session

The Center for Food Integrity (CFI) will host a diverse roster of panelists for its breakout session on Food Animal Well-Being during the 6th annual Food System Summit: Food Choices - Challenges - Realities. Moderated by Lisa Keefe, managing editor of MeatingPlace, the panel will feature four industry representatives, including a farm owner, a third-party animal welfare verifier, a restaurant executive and an animal welfare activist, who will each explore the topic of food animal well-being.

For the fourth year, Toyota will donate a new Tundra to World Ag Expo's FFA Toyota Tundra Giveaway. Toyota and California FFA chapters are working together with World Ag Expo to support FFA programs in schools throughout California. World Dairy Expo has become well respected as an elite dairy cattle show, and also as a source for tapping into the latest research and cutting-edge technologies for the dairy industry. Many of the Expo Seminars, as well as, the Dairy Forage Tool Box Seminars qualify attendees for continuing education credits. Idaho dairy producers treated to rafting trip

On July 7- 8, Progressive Dairyman founder Leon Leavitt and wife, Jane, traveled to Salmon, Idaho, to participate in an annual rafting trip hosted by Rocky Mountain Pharmaceuticals and Novartis Animal Health. Jami Gaver, owner of Rocky Mountain Pharmaceutical, partners up with Novartis Animal Health every year to offer this rafting trip to dairy producers in the Magic Valley and Treasure Valley of southern Idaho. This year, 32 producers and guests made the drive to Salmon to take part in the trip.

Yeast manufacturer Vi-COR hosts China Dairy Summit

Vi-COR, a manufacturer of specialized yeast-based products for dairy, poultry, swine and beef feed, recently hosted a Discover Vi-COR / China Dairy Summit at its new manufacturing facility in Mason City, Iowa.
