The American Bankers Association (ABA) has formed an Agricultural Credit Task Force, a diverse team of bankers who will work to identify legislative opportunities in the 21st century agricultural credit market. The task force held its first meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Nebraska Bankers Association headquarters.

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) issued the following statement on Sept. 16: "It is disheartening that lawmakers in America’s Dairyland are even considering legislation that would damage public health by liberalizing the sale of raw milk to consumers.

Drawing from a pilot study of dairy processors, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy recently released voluntary best practices for enhanced dairy traceability. The practices were designed by processors, for processors, to increase global competitiveness, help satisfy future requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and, in the rare event of a safety issue, quickly isolate products to protect public health and prevent brand damage.

Global agriculture firm H.J. Baker & Bro. Inc. has opened its Innovation Lab at the company’s Connecticut headquarters, which aims to identify market opportunities across the feed, fertilizer and sulphur business areas. The person who will head up the new lab as director is Louis Angerame.

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) is inviting the public to help choose the name of the cartoon character modeled after the REAL Seal (RS) logo. The character greets visitors to the website and will be used in other applications in the future.
