ABS Global, Inc. recently wrapped up a successful week of World Dairy Expo festivities, including facility tours, farm tours, and progeny success in the dairy cattle shows. More than 600 guests from 15 different states and countries took advantage of facility tours held Monday through Friday at the ABS headquarters in DeForest, Wisconsin. On Monday, ABS had the opportunity to host the National 4-H Conference group and more than 200 youth and chaperones at ABS Dekorra, just outside of Poynette, Wisconsin.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 5-6, more than 180 individuals from 16 countries attended the ABS Global International farm tours. Guests toured some of Wisconsin’s finest dairy operations, and had a fantastic opportunity to see ABS progeny and results through the use of ABS Cornerstone sires and the Genetic Management System (GMS). Offspring featured on the tour were from various bulls, including 29HO11396 NORSKI, 29HO10356 REECE, 29HO11014 DEE, 29HO11614 JEEVES, and 29HO10644 GARRISON.

The morning of Friday, Oct. 7, ABS Dekorra was host to more than 450 people for breakfast. This event is held each year in coordination with World Dairy Expo, and provides an excellent opportunity for international visitors and ABS customers to tour this state of the art facility.

The dairy cattle show at World Dairy Expo provided an excellent representation of the St. Jacobs ABC and ABS partnership in the quality of cattle presented. One of the defining moments of the week was during the International Junior Holstein Show, when the Grand, Reserve and Honorable Mention Champion cows were all sired by DUNDEE. Siemers DUNDEE Hilda 8669-ET, owned by Jordan Siemers of Cleveland, Wisconsin, took home Champion honors, while Budjon-JK Edge of Reason, owned by Jordan and Whitney Ebert of Algoma, Wisconsin, wrapped up Reserve Champion. In addition, the Junior Champion of the Junior Show was sired by ASTEROID – Peace & Plenty ASTEROID Fishy is owned by Austin Schwartzbeck of Union Bridge, Maryland.

Later in the week as Grand Champion of the International Holstein Show was being selected, the Judge’s Choice program was well represented, as each of the four great cows in contention for champion has a son in the program or on the ground headed for ABS.
