During one of the preconference sessions of the Vita Plus Dairy Summit held recently in Baraboo, Wisconsin, 12 women gathered to try their hand at painting a cow.

Artful Escapes provided the canvas, paint, brushes and instructions. The company specializes in opening up everyone’s artistic abilities by hosting public and private painting parties.

After painting a basic background, the two instructors took everyone though the steps to paint either an abstract or more detailed painting of a cow.

Some people were painting from a picture of one of their favorite cows, while others took a more generic route. In the end, everyone seemed to have a good time and walked away with a piece of her own original art.

“It was fun and different. I liked it once I figured it out,” said Lisa Hanson, a dairy producer from Decorah, Iowa.  PD
