What are your new responsibilities?

My work will be balanced between our sales force and the field. I will work to help producers determine the best strategies in the field to achieve maximum yield on their acres.

Latham makes genuine, valiant efforts to provide customers with the best seed purchasing experience – and they remain true to the industry’s highest standards for genetics – making my job in the field easier.

On the sales force side, I’m honored to be a part of a team that is never satisfied with status quo and is constantly seeking improvement in products and processes. As our industry rapidly changes, I’m proud to be part of a team that is keeping ahead of the curve to make the best decisions for its customers.

What territory will you cover?
South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska

Please describe your agricultural background.
I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. When I was young, I detasseled corn at our local seed company and developed a strong interest in plant genetics and crop productivity. I have worked in the seed industry ever since and most enjoy the combination of two fantastic areas of agriculture: livestock and crops.

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I earned a bachelor of science in agriculture from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.

What previous positions have you held?
I worked my way through the University of Wisconsin – River Falls at Brown Seed Company by hauling milk. I then served as assistant mill manager and was promoted to full branch manager for a large cooperative, where I was in charge of feed, seed and fertilizer. My most recent position was serving as forage specialist for a regional seed company.

What excites you most about working in your new role?
By far the people – both the producers I have the opportunity to meet and work with in the field and my colleagues at Latham. I have met some amazing people and look forward to meeting more.

Everyone has a story and I find it so fascinating to learn what has driven them, what their goals are, and how I can play a role in helping reach those goals. I enjoy hearing producers visit about their operation and consider it a true honor when they partner with our team to use our products.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I have a goal to help producers create healthier meat, milk and eggs. I work to provide strong agronomic and nutritional information so producers and nutritional advisors can make their decisions with confidence. I like to hone in on starch digestability, so that producers get more value from what they currently have.

Overall, I like to help get the highest possible yield from the field, along with the most nutritious quality. We have amazing new products in testing that have a very nutritious end product, which will speak volumes to livestock producers. I’ve also been keeping a close watch on the low lignin alfalfa and tannin alfalfa, the next great thing in alfalfa.

Why did you choose this company?
Latham Hi-Tech Seeds is family owned. And with 65 years of experience, the company is steeped in the traditions of agriculture. Latham delivers world class genetics and very aggressively integrates innovative solutions to achieve robust yields.

I have a huge passion for maintaining and restoring our soils, as it is the most critical piece of the yield equation. Latham has an innovative Seed-2-Soil program that adds enormous depth to our understanding of soil, helping manage fertility and much more, utilizing the newest technologies available in the ag industry. They also have a great marketing department which provides meaningful information to growers.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I would like to help producers achieve top-end yields by identifying areas of opportunity with programs like Seed-2-Soil. I would also like to establish better feed efficiency and more nutritious feed for superior livestock productivity.  FG
