For the company, HACCP certification is a prerequisite for compliance with Nutrace, Nutreco’s global feed-to-food safety program.

Additionally, this certification brings Shur-Gain into compliance with the new Federal Food Safety and Modernization Act, which requires a hazard awareness program for all feed manufacturers.

All staff members at the Strykersville location have been trained and are proficient with the HACCP program, providing increased knowledge and skills pertaining to feed safety. All Shur-Gain-owned feed manufacturing plants are now HACCP certified.

For customers of Shur-Gain Strykersville, HACCP certification provides security and assurance that the products they receive are safe. The HACCP program also provides detailed information on traceability, allowing every component to be traced back to the source.

“HACCP is a preventative measure, rather than just looking at the finished product,” Paul Pitkin, production supervisor, states.
