Plans to replace aging dairy facilities at the Kansas State University dairy farm in Manhattan, Kansas, are still in the funding stages. They are currently working to fund the project through state appropriations, which is a joint effort championed by the Kansas dairy industry with the support of the university. Kansas dairy producers are encouraged to reach out to their legislators about the importance of this project.
"Time is of the essence," says Janet Bailey, CEO, Kansas Dairy Association. "Kansas State University needs a new, relevant dairy to serve the modern dairy industry. Dairy farmers make decisions daily, and as they look toward their own operations, the research and training that would be done at the new dairy would make a difference across the High Plains region. Furthermore, you can only weld on old welds so many times. As an emerging dairy state, it is time to commit to the next generation of dairy farmers."
