Stand up and be counted: USDA to conduct 2017 Census of Agriculture

America’s farmers and ranchers will soon have the opportunity to take part in the 2017 Census of Agriculture. Conducted every five years by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), the census, to be mailed at the end of this year, is a complete count of all U.S. farms, ranches, and those who operate them.

2017 milk price average forecast at about $18.10 per cwt

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s monthly World Ag Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report raised the 2017 milk production forecast, citing expectations the U.S. dairy herd will grow during the year. Projected milk output per cow was reduced slightly from last month’s forecast.
