PennAg to host first all inclusive modern agriculture display

November 4, 2011
Protecting animal agriculture in the U.S. has been made a priority issue by many agribusiness enterprises in Pennsylvania and nationwide. It is necessary to improve the understanding of modern agriculture from farm to consumer and among educators, decision makers and opinion leaders. Much of the research and data available of the public opinion on animal agriculture indicates that regular consumers just want to know that their food is safe, that it was raised in a way that was humane to the animal, and that its production did not harm the environment.

Dr. Dave Downey receives AFIA Distinguished Service Award

November 3, 2011
Dr. Dave Downey has been named the 2011 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from the American Feed Industry Association. Downey is the founder and executive director of the Center for Agricultural Business (CAB) at Purdue University. He was honored at the American Feed Industry Association’s Board of Directors meeting in Kansas City, Missouri. AFIA’s Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor the organization bestows on members. Since 1981, only 27 individuals have received this elite award for outstanding, long-term support to AFIA and the entire feed industry. Befitting its highly selective nature, the DSA is not necessarily presented annually.
