Business Conference "Pathways to Profit," March 15-16, in Madison, Wisconsin, attendees will have the opportunity to hear and interact with many different speakers, including Stephen M.R. Covey, who is making his mark in the business world for his insight on trust and how trust can make organizations more profitable, people more promotable and relationships more energizing. Stephen M.R. Covey will zero in on the trust issue when he delivers the opening keynote address. During his "Building Your Future on Trust" keynote, Covey will outline why and how to make building trust an explicit goal, how individuals perceive the trustworthiness of others and how to use the "language of trust" as an important cultural lever.

Coverage of World Ag Expo-related activities will ramp up in the first four issues in the new year. Producers gather in Lancaster for annual Pennsylvania Dairy Summit

Dairy producers found several tools for success at the 2011 Pennsylvania Dairy Summit, held Feb. 2-3 at the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center. Hosted by the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania (PDMP) and the Center for Dairy Excellence (CDE), the summit offered workshops on several hot topics in the dairy industry.

Twitter takes regional dairy events to new, international level

Last week's episode on the television show Grey's Anatomy highlighted Twitter, the social networking and microblogging website. The characters on the show were using Twitter to showcase procedures being performed to doctors at other hospitals. Chief Webber, who runs the fictional hospital, was appalled that his staff was broadcasting surgeries for the whole world to see. As the episode goes on, Webber finds out that Twitter can be a useful service. When his staff members weren't sure how to deal with a problem in surgery, a suggestion from a Twitter user saved the patient. Webber was also able to reconnect with a former colleague, thanks to tweets and messages.

Learn about bioenergy from manure at AgSTAR National Conference

Interest in manure digester systems and bioenergy production is at an all-time high. Also, as greater attention becomes focused on greenhouse gas emissions from livestock production, it’s more important than ever to learn about the latest developments in anaerobic digestion of livestock manures. The AgSTAR Program will hold its sixth national two-day conference at the Boise Centre in Boise, Idaho, on May 11-12, 2011. This conference is recommended for livestock producers and others interested or involved in the design, financing, operation, or regulatory oversight of animal waste management systems, or in the development of alternative sources of energy.
