The Center for Dairy Excellence Board of Directors is seeking nominations for the 2011 Pacesetter Award. The award was developed by the Pennsylvania Dairy Stakeholders to promote and encourage a progressive dairy industry in Pennsylvania. The award became part of the Center for Dairy Excellence's programs in 2011, with the integration of the stakeholders and the center.

The Pacesetter Award honors those who work to build a positive image of the Pennsylvania dairy industry and create a prosperous, marketable future for dairy producers and supporting industries. The award provides an opportunity to recognize individuals, companies or organizations that have distinguished themselves through accomplishments and/or programs that:

• Bring positive recognition or advancement to the Pennsylvania dairy industry;
• Create positive attitudes about the industry among producers and their families;
• Invest in a long-term commitment to the Pennsylvania dairy food industry; and
• Create a growing recognition by consumers that a healthy, growing dairy industry is positive for everyone who lives and works in Pennsylvania.

Anyone is encouraged to submit nominations to the Center for Dairy Excellence for the award. Nominees are considered based on how well their accomplishments support the criteria of being visionary, innovative, progressive, unique, and demonstrative of excellence of performance.

Up to three nominees are presented the Pacesetter Award each, with recipients receiving a commemorative gift and formal recognition at the Pennsylvania Dairy Summit in February. The award may also be presented at any industry event that provides additional exposure. All nominations are due Nov. 20.
