ASABE AE50 award goes to GEA Farm Technologies for SYNC2 piston pump The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently announced that GEA Farm Technologies Canada Inc./Division GEA Houle has won a AE50 award. GEA Farm Technologies developed the SYNC2 Modular Piston Pump, deemed one of the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. The SYNC2 will be featured in a special AE50 issue of ASABE’s magazine, Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.

Alain Courtemanche, president and CEO of GEA Farm Technologies Canada Inc., said, "We are very pleased to receive an AE50 award for the SYNC2 Modular Piston Pump. The ASABE is a prestigious organization endorsing the engineering and development of products related to the food and agriculture industries."

The SYNC2 Modular Piston Pump is a positive displacement pump to transfer liquid manure. The dual pumping chambers in sequence provide a non-pulsing flow ideal for feeding downstream processing equipment, while using less horsepower than conventional manure transfer equipment.

A compact footprint and a controllable flow rate make the SYNC2 an easy fit into existing systems as well as new construction. The pump’s base construction allows for higher evacuation line pressures up to 100 psi, enabling long distance transfer up to three miles.

The SYNC2 is designed for 24-hour operation and capable of transfer rates up to 163 gpm. Additionally, the modular design of the SYNC2 allows for expansion of the pumping system by bolting multiple pumps together in sequence, the SYNC2 can become the SYNC4, SYNC6 or SYNC8.

Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.

The AE50 award program is sponsored by Resource to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
