Swihart Sales Company releases Cow Crane

The Cow Crane is a self-contained, portable cow lifter designed to pick up down cows. It lets you control the cow after lifting so she can gradually regain the use of her legs. You can lift a down cow without causing any trauma or injury, and use it to walk the animal to help them get back on their feet. The lift rides on rear tires and smaller front caster wheels, and has a hitch so you can tow it down the road. It’s equipped with a nylon strap on front and a hip clamp on back, both raised or lowered by worm gear winches.

New Access Black Liner from Lauren AgriSystems offers best-in-class productivity with exclusive venting technology

Lauren AgriSystems has unveiled a new multisided barrel black liner. The Access Black Liner uses the company’s exclusive directional flow vent technology. This vent system is positioned in a way that avoids high-use areas where bacteria collects and works with the flow to prevent disruptions within the liner for a faster, more consistent flow.

The liner is made with DairyGrade material that meets FDA and 3-A testing standards. This access liner is silicone-based. It is also nonhalogenated and Bisphenol A (BPA)- and phthalate-free.

The liner requires fewer switchouts because of its durability and rating for a minimum of 3,000 milkings. The integrated design, including the liner and shell, prevents twisting during use and the material is flexible to accommodate various teat sizes for a seal that virtually eliminates squawks and liner slips.

Truterra, Nori launch carbon market partnership

Truterra LLC announced a new pilot project using blockchain technology that could offer a new revenue stream for farmers through the creation of a new voluntary carbon removal marketplace.

Through the project, Truterra is syncing up its “Insights Engine,” which farmers are already using to generate customized stewardship and profitability data, with a carbon marketplace operated by Nori. Growers submit data at no cost to see the potential value of carbon credits they could generate as a result of the on-farm, soil health-building practices. Currently, farmers can be paid up to $15 per metric ton of carbon sequestered in the soil on Nori’s marketplace.

The organizations are working with a handful of farmers and ag retailers in the Truterra network to develop the pilot during this growing season, which will continue into the 2021-22 growing season.
