Since the weather has turned colder, the days have gotten shorter and nights longer, it can be hard to find activities to do with friends or family. However, doing activities doesn’t always mean you have to go somewhere fun. Sometimes it can be as simple as inviting a friend over or having your kids join in on an easy craft.
If you have a cow obsession like me and love all things cow print, then this might be a Christmas craft for you. I personally feel like my Christmas tree can never have enough cow on it. This cow ornament craft idea I originally found on Pinterest and thought it easy enough to do myself. Not wanting to do the craft alone, I invited a cow-loving friend of mine to make some cow print ornaments with me last season. They were easy to make and made for a great girls’ night crafting while listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate.
To get started, you will need:
- Christmas balls (clear or white)
- White, black and pink paint
- Black glitter
- Paintbrush
- Small dish or bowl
Prep: Lay down a tablecloth or newspaper to crafting area. Remove the ornament caps and hooks.
Step 1: If you have clear Christmas balls, you will need to start by painting the entire ball white with your paintbrush and then letting them sit to dry. If starting with white Christmas balls, you can move on to Step 2.
Step 2: Pour pink paint into a shallow bowl or dish. The pink paint will need to be at least a half-inch deep to dip in the bottom portion of the white ball. Dip in the bottom of the Christmas balls and then let the pink paint dry.
Step 3: With a paintbrush, color in black cow spots on the remaining white portion of the Christmas balls.
Step 4: While the black paint is still wet, sprinkle the black glitter over the black spots. Then let the black glitter dry to the black paint.
To finish, reassemble the ornament caps and hooks to the top of your Christmas balls and hang the newly made cow ornaments on your Christmas tree. Then, for years to come, whenever you dig out and hang your cow ornaments on your tree, you can think about the fun time and fond memories spent making these cow ornaments.
