In 2014, Time magazine declared an end to “the war on fat.” After decades of demonizing cholesterol and the calories that come from animal products, the winds shifted: “Fat is good for you,” said the headline. Consumers – and farmers – took notice.

To start the new year, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC)’s Policy team examined trends from the Canadian dairy marketplace in 2025 to offer insights for the coming months.

Dairy farmers are integral to the success of a more sustainable Canadian agriculture industry. After all, caring for the environment has been foundational for generations working on the land. To help farmers move forward with their sustainability goals, DFC has once again partnered with Farm Credit Canada (FCC), Starbucks and Lactanet on FCC’s Sustainability Incentive Program.
