DCC Waterbeds XC

Mcbride matti
Editor / Progressive Dairy

Advanced Comfort Technology Inc. is proud to bring dairy producers an upgrade to the third-generation isolated design of dairy waterbed technology. The extra comfort (XC) offered by the new design will provide the most comfortable freestall bedding solution yet. The expanded water chambers offer even more comfort for the cow's knees and her body, with the ultimate in cow comfort, consistency, cushion and support.

DCC Waterbeds ISO, with two independent chambers, have been providing comfort to cows around the world since 2013. DCC Waterbeds float the hocks, knees and udder. They are a proven, comfortable alternative to deep-bedded sand or solids. The DCC Waterbeds XC design offers even more comfort for the cow when she’s in the lying position by expanding the water flotation surface area of the bed.

Biopect

Biopect is a restorative complementary feed used for the stabilization of the fluid and electrolyte balance of calves suffering from digestive disturbances (diarrhea).

Biopect consists of specially treated plant fibers, easily digestible energy and a high content of electrolytes. It is a finely granulated, dust-free product with high solubility. It can be fed in milk without the risk of segregation.

Biopect is used during periods of digestive disturbances, regardless of whether they are caused by bacteria, viruses or are feed related. It can also be used preventively for animals that are at risk due to diet change, relocation, situational stress or antibiotic use. When used as a supplement during antibiotic use, it reduces the harmful effect of the antibiotic on the intestinal microbiota and supports a rapid restoration of the natural intestinal microbiota.

FerAppease

What if you could minimize an animal’s perception of danger, allowing it to feel safe and more comfortable during stressful physiological events and routine management procedures, such as weaning, dehorning, transport, calving and much more?

New FerAppease, a unique analogue of the naturally occurring maternal bovine-appeasing substance (MBAS), is applied topically to the nose and poll and, when breathed in, it reduces negative stress hormones. All ingredients are FDA-approved under GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe), plus FerAppease doesn’t require a veterinarian’s prescription. University and field-trial research shows it benefits animals of all stages from calves through adult.

For more information about the scientific evidence and financial benefits, visit the FerAppease booth in the Trade Center #457 and online.

FutureMint Udder Cream

As the name suggests, FutureMint Udder Cream contains peppermint oil, which has been found to penetrate inflamed and hard udders and soften them. In addition, the product contains other botanical anti-inflammatory compounds as well as MicroSilver.

MicroSilver helps to reduce inflammation and bioload and has residual surface activity that works for hours after application. It is important to note that the particle size of the silver is what makes it so effective.

FutureCow Wound Cream

FutureCow Wound Cream’s main active ingredient is MicroSilver. This product is currently being used in veterinary surgeries as an antimicrobial as well as a promoter of wound healing. This product can be used on cuts, scrapes, chapping and even has been found very effective in healing udder cleft dermatitis.

Protivity

Now producers can help protect vulnerable dairy calves against respiratory disease caused by Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) with Protivity, a new vaccine from Zoetis. Protivity is the first modified-live bacterial vaccine with demonstrated protection against M. bovis in two doses, with the first dose administered as early as 1 week old. Research in dairy calves showed protection against M. bovis at 6 weeks old with two doses of Protivity.

Visit Zoetis at World Dairy Expo (booth #3811) to learn more about Protivity and other calf wellness tools to help start calves on a healthy path.

Teatwand Parallel

The Teatwand Parallel is a fully automated in-parlor solution for pre- and post-teat spraying in parallel parlors, spraying every teat, every time.

Use your people smarter. Teat spraying is boring. Robots love boring jobs. Teatwand Parallel can do it better.

Here’s how it works: Spray arms, suspended from a gantry, travel along the parlor identifying the next cow to be teat sprayed. As the cows enter, they get a pre-spray and, as they finish milking, a post-spray.

Automation will buy you some peace of mind. With pre- and post-spray automated, these jobs are sorted. A vital part of your mastitis management regime.

Fifteen years of teat-spraying dairy cows – dairying is in our DNA.

Tri-axle RMH

The RMH self-propelled feed mixer is an integrated feeding system that will transform a wasteful outdated method for feeding into a highly efficient cost-saving process. Labor savings, reduction in fuel consumption and significant decline in feed shrinkage can pay for this unit in two years. The RMH self-propelled mixer is now offered as a tri-axle model. This new product spreads the weight over three axles, allowing for greater maneuverability, and lessens the weight impact of the machine.

McLanahan introduces vertical lift pump

55967-wde-2.jpg

The new McLanahan vertical lift pumps are an efficient method for transferring dairy manure from a pit to the next stage in the process. The vertical lift pumps feature a shredder on the impeller that shears long and stringy or large organic material against the pump plate to break it down into smaller pieces. With the vertical lift pumps joining McLanahan's current lineup of manure management equipment, including rotary drum separators, roll presses and manure bedding eryers, it can now offer a full manure-handling system, from the manure pit to the end product. McLanahan is a one-stop shop for manure transferring, separation, thickening, dewatering and drying.

Nutrition

Hy•D

Hy•D is a vitamin D3 source that complements a negative-DCAD diet to help close the calcium gap and support overall herd health and production performance. Feeding Hy•D increases the available pool of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-OH D3), leading to a better vitamin D status and more efficient calcium absorption.

Maintaining proper calcium status in your dairy cows is critical during the transition period to prevent hypocalcemia and other costly consequences of low blood calcium. Research has demonstrated that higher blood concentrations of 25-OH D3 during the transition period help support calcium homeostasis, increase some aspects of immune cell function, increase milk yield and tend to improve reproductive performance.

Galaxis Frontier

Native Microbials has launched its next-gen microbial product – Galaxis Frontier. The product consists of four native rumen microbes that were isolated from healthy dairy cows and selected for their unique biochemical modes of action in the rumen. Together, these highly impactful organisms increase the abundance of the most important microbes in the cow's rumen, resulting in optimized digestion and more energy for the cow. Several academic trials found that daily feeding of Galaxis Frontier increased energy-corrected milk yield by over 8% and feed efficiency by over 7%.

The product was developed to fit within current commercial dairy operations. A patented preservation and encapsulation technology ensures that the microbes are delivered to the cow alive. This eliminates the need for refrigeration, protects the microbes from stressors in the environment (including TMR) and allows the product to easily mix into the TMR.
