Holstein Association USA commissions new ideal U.S. Registered Holstein images

Holstein Association USA has commissioned updated images of the ideal U.S. Registered Holstein cow and bull. Renowned dairy artist Bonnie Mohr is painting the images, which will be unveiled at the 2012 National Holstein Convention in Springfield, Missouri, June 27-30. Holstein Association USA President Chuck Worden said, “The last time the ideal U.S. Registered Holstein cow and bull images were updated was in the 1970s.

DocTalk TV show brings producers and veterinarians closer together

Multimin USA is sponsoring DocTalk with Dr. Dan Thomson as part of its effort to bring producers and veterinarians closer together to benefit future beef and dairy production. Thomson and his guests will discuss livestock management and current animal ag research every Monday on RFD-TV, 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. DocTalk topics include trichomoniasis in cattle, milk supply safety, injectable trace mineral pre-treatment of cattle, and breeding soundness exams for bulls.

Alltech Hosts 2nd Annual Gator Giveaway With more than 120 attendees, Alltech’s Gator Giveaway held on April 19 provided a chance for local producers to come together and be rewarded for their dedication to sustainability and efforts to feed the world. Attendees from all across the province came for the possibility of walking away with a 2012 625i John Deere Gator. Ty Yeast, Canadian managing director of Alltech, started the program off by expressing the importance of customer appreciation, elevating exposure and bringing excitement back to the agricultural community. This support was reciprocated by long standing relationships with customers such as those in attendance. Yeast stated, “I love the way the Alltech Gator Giveaway provides a small way for us to say thank you and helps drives agriculture forward. We want to help our technologies on farm thereby helping you.”

Idaho governor's trade trip results in BioTracking deal with Chinese dairy

May 16, 2012
Idaho Governor Butch Otter has landed a deal for Moscow, Idaho-based BioTracking to sell pregnancy tests to China’s third-largest dairy. BioTracking, the developer of BioPRYN cattle pregnancy tests, signed a sales agreement April 16 with Shanghai Bright Dairy Co. Otter made the original pitch on behalf of BioTracking during a 2010 trade mission that included a meeting with Shanghai Bright officials. The officials invited Garth Sasser, a founder of BioTracking, to its meeting of dairy producers later that year.

Dairy groups provide milk for thousands at Destination Imagination Global Finals

May 15, 2012
Destination Imagination (DI), a non-profit, after school program where students work as teams to solve open-ended challenges, is having Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) provide milk daily for the 8,000 youth participants in DI's Global Finals. The event takes place on the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, May 23-26. In addition to DFA, milk sponsors include Dairy MAX, Southeast United Dairy Industries Association, Inc., and Western Dairy Association.
