On a warm, clear day in Fallon, Nevada, recently, members of the press were treated to a tour of the new Dairy Farmers of America milk processing plant. Built on almost 32 acres, the plant began operation on April 5, 2014, and is currently processing an average of 1.5 million pounds of raw milk per day, though it is equipped to process two million pounds of raw milk daily.

For anyone who has seen or attended the Alltech 30th International Symposium, to say it has a theatrical feel is an understatement; complete with elaborate stage settings, bright lights and continual slide presentations all around, it’s worth the trip to see the sheer production of the event.

During June Dairy Month, ambassadors are called upon to aid in the promotion of one of our country’s prominent agriculture industries. Progressive Dairyman caught up with some of Wisconsin’s most well-known dairy ambassadors at Cows on the Concourse, June 7. This event serves as a kick-off to June Dairy Month, held the first Saturday of June on the state’s Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin.

Carrie Mess, better known as “Dairy Carrie,” recently jump-started one group of dairy producers to tell their story, just in time for Dairy Month.

The Animal Agriculture Alliance’s annual Stakeholders Summit was held in May. Every year at the alliance, when it comes to summit planning, we try to determine how to provide the most timely, insightful and relevant information to our attendees. We try to present the issues of the day, those most pressing affecting our industry in unique ways. We try and think about things differently and hope to inspire all participants to do the same.

More than 215 dairy producers from across the U.S. gathered April 8-10 in Gray Summit, Missouri, for the Calf and Heifer VIP program, hosted by Purina Animal Nutrition. This year’s attendees represented 145 dairy farms and more than 78,000 calves and heifers.
