Gallagher Vice President of animal management Dan Geller says, “Our objective is to provide producers with the best products, services and profitability for their business and this campaign is an opportunity to highlight the operational costs of inaccurate weighing.”

“Antibiotics, de-wormers, forage and even salt/minerals should be measured based on an animal’s body weight. Without accurate weighing systems, operators are merely guessing, but being off as little as 100 lbs. can have a significant impact on the operation’s bottom line.”

Geller says that while overdosing might be costly, it is far more preferable to underdosing, which leaves stock susceptible to disease and malnutrition.

The online challenge continues until February 28, 2013. Producers are encouraged to participate.

One entry per registered user is allowed each month of the contest. New livestock is shown monthly on the site.

The grand prize winner will receive a custom-made Greeley hat and Rios of Mercedes boots valued at $1,000. Second and third place drawing winners will receive a Greeley hat ($500 value) or Rios of Mercedes boots ($500 value).
