What education are you bringing with you to this position?
My passion for farming led to a diploma from Ontario Agricultural College (University of Guelph – Kemptville College) in the class of 2005. The practical experience garnered from more than 15 years living and working on a dairy was more than educational.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Richmond, Ontario. As a third-generation dairyman, I lived and worked on the farm. From as long as I can remember, I was caring for animals of all ages, working alongside experienced dairymen, veterinarians and industry partners.

What territory will you cover?
Working alongside John Van Bakel, we will provide ventilation to all of eastern Ontario (east of Highway 400) and Quebec.

What are your new responsibilities?
As a sales representative, it’s my job to be on-site, working with farmers, veterinarians, dealers, builders and contractors to ensure their ventilation system is designed, installed and working properly. From start to finish (and beyond if needed), I will be there.

What previous positions have you held?
As a member of the student council at Kemptville College, I was responsible for and assisted with organization of fundraising events. I was also chairman for the College Royal Trade Show as we implemented new fundraising standards. My most important previous position was my life – I’ve worked on a dairy farm ever since I can remember, progressing from farmhand to manager at Carlmar Holsteins. My biggest challenge was acting project lead on the construction of a new, modern 180-cow dairy. This process taught me a lot and will certainly help me educate others in my new role with Sun-North Systems.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
Naturally, my father impacted me from a very young age. Watching him on the farm made me want to follow in his footsteps. But it was his interaction with the industry through his multiple positions on boards with Holstein Ontario, Eastern Breeders (Eastgen) and Semex Alliance that truly impacted me and created this passion.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
As a former dairyman myself, I have extensive experience in managing a dairy. The ventilation system needs to be functional and reliable. It is my hope to bring our products to the farms that can utilize them, allowing each farmer to reach any goal they have for their new or existing projects.

Why did you choose this company?
Sun-North Systems shares my passion for the agriculture industry. Their knowledge and experience in the field is great to be a part of. Being a Canadian company, manufacturing, selling and installing a completely Canadian product, designed for Canadian dairies is also something the producers can appreciate. It’s a natural fit.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I am an outgoing person, with a drive for customer satisfaction. I stand behind our product and will do my best to make sure the customer is satisfied. It’s my goal to help create and maintain a healthy and productive environment for all livestock in my territory.  end mark
