Officials are decreasing the water supply this year because of dry winter conditions. The Bureau of Reclamation said that agricultural contractors on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley will receive a water allocation of 20 percent of requested deliveries, a 5 percent decrease from the allocation announced last month.

Municipal and industrial water contractors will receive 70 percent, also a 5 percent decrease.

And the California Department of Water Resources announced that that its State Water Project contractors can expect to get only 35 percent of their requested deliveries for 2013, a five percent decrease.

Officials say water supplies from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta have also been reduced to protect threatened fish species. PD
