Supporters of the Cal Poly Dairy in conjunction with the Tulare Sales Yard have teamed up to kick off the 2nd Annual Cull Cow Fundraiser. This fundraiser has been fueled by the passion of Cal Poly alumni and supporters to improve the Cal Poly Dairy Farm and maintain it's financial stability. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly toward purchase of current and long-term forage needs for the Cal Poly Dairy.

The Cal Poly Cull Cow Fundraiser will kick off on Monday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at the Tulare Sales Yard, 4013 South "K" Street, Tulare, CA 93274. However, cattle can be sent in any time between now through May. The fundraising committee understands with the value of beef today that everyone will not be able to donate an entire cull cow, therefore the option to donate a portion of the funds from that cull cow is certainly appreciated. Donors need to simply determine this percentage or dollar amount when sending cattle to the auction yard.

The Cal Poly Dairy is recognized as one of the nation's best university herds. The Holsteins are recognized as the longest Pure Breed Registry award herds in the U.S. at 54 years. The Jerseys were recognized the last two years as the highest producing butterfat herd in the U.S. This is even more impressive knowing that all of the labor is provided by Cal Poly students.
