The Stearns County SWCD is sponsoring a field day at Nick and Tara Meyer Farm at 39957, 360th St., Sauk Centre, Minnesota from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Meyer Farm is one of six Discovery Farms Minnesota locations. Discovery Farms Minnesota provides both information and forum to educate and improve communications among the agricultural community, consumers, researchers and policy-makers to identify and implement effective management practices that are compatible with profitable agriculture.

This field day will give a firsthand understanding of these unique on-farm study facilities and showcase how local partners are assisting in our national efforts to clean up the waters of the Mississippi River. Participants will expand their awareness of the federal Mississippi River Basin Initiative and Minnesota’s role in improving the waters of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. You will also increase knowledge of “Discovery Farms” and the collection of on-site data that will assist producers in making better water quality management decisions.

The cost is free. For more information contact Dennis Fuchs at (320) 251-7800 ext 3.

Neighboring farmers, federal and state legislators, county commissioners, SWCD employees, USDA and Minnesota Department of Agriculture employees are all welcome. PD
