Kayla McNett California Account Manager Farmeron Inc. Visalia, California

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from Washington State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in animal science.

Please describe your agricultural background.
Unlike many of my colleagues, I did not grow up in agriculture, but fell in love with the dairy industry during college. My life in agriculture didn’t start until I participated in the Cooperative University Dairy Students (CUDS), a group of 12 students at WSU who manage their own herd of 35 milking cows. It really sparked my interest and led me to many other dairy extracurricular activities throughout college.

What territory will you cover?
My territory currently covers all of California.

What are your new responsibilities?
My responsibilities include onboarding new customers, troubleshooting technical issues, educating customers on product use and to provide outstanding support.

What previous positions have you held?
I previously was a customer support representative at another agricultural software company.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
I don’t think I can narrow it down to one person, but to three: Dr. John McNamara, Dr. Larry Fox and John Swain. Dr. McNamara always pushed me to not accept mediocrity. Dr. Fox taught me to never take information at face value, but to look deeper. John, manager of WSU’s Knott Dairy Center, allowed me to sharpen my practical knowledge by giving me a lot of responsibility on the farm. These three gentlemen at WSU fostered my interest in dairy in different ways, and I owe each of them my sincerest gratitude.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
My previous knowledge in troubleshooting technical issues will help me pinpoint the source of the problem faster, resulting in shorter resolution times.

Why did you choose this company?
There were a multitude of reasons why I chose Farmeron. Mainly it was their innovative spirit; they are disrupting a part of the industry that hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. Farmeron is going to change the way we see and use data on the dairy, and their vision resonated well with me. Secondly was their commitment to dairymen and the genuine interest in feedback from the customer on our product. I couldn’t ask for a better company to work for, and I am proud to be a part of something so revolutionary.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My main goal in this position is to provide the absolute best support I can to each of our customers in California. I want each of them to get the most out of the system and in turn be more informed about the state of their business, and cows, every day. PD
