Now available from CowKühlerZ is The Reub, a temperature humidity (THI) controller, for its water-cooling system.
The THI controller takes ambient temperature and humidity into account to optimize the setting for the evaporative cooling system.
This is the first time technology is available to continuously calculate the heat stress index and automatically adjust heat abatement based on temperature and low versus high humidity.
The controller works in concert with the company's evaporative cooling system and is built using the most precise sensors in the world to ensure accurate readings. It is programed with a precise algorithm to deliver an exact amount of water to the cows’ backs for enhanced cooling without soaking them. This allows water savings of up to 90 percent compared to other cooling options.
The company's cooling system is a low-pressure system, which runs on well pressure (30 to 50 psi). A minimal flow rate allows the system to be mounted over the freestalls, a bed pack, tiestall and other applications.
This cooling system was developed in Germany. After extensive research at the Universities of Florida and Georgia, the company's cooling system was made available in the U.S. in January 2013. PD
