Ben McLean has been named president and chief operating officer of Ruan Transportation Management Systems, and Dan Van Alstine has joined Ruan as president of western dedicated contract services, reporting to McLean.

McLean joined Ruan in 2007, and has held a wide range of executive positions. Most recently, he served as executive vice president providing oversight of Ruan’s western operations and the information technology, maintenance, assets and legal teams. In his new role, McLean will also have oversight responsibility of Ruan’s more than 260 operations nationwide.

Prior to joining Ruan, McLean assisted technology companies with mergers, acquisitions and equity offerings at William Blair & Company in Chicago, IL. McLean holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. McLean earned his undergraduate degree in computer engineering from Northwestern.

Van Alstine has an extensive background in the transportation industry, most recently as senior vice president and general manager of dedicated services and logistics at Schneider National Inc.
