Fliegl’s KDS 270 muck control now DLG-approved

Fliegl has expanded its spreading technology product portfolio to include chain manure spreaders. The Fliegl KDS 270 Muck Control is a universal spreader with a scraper floor and a horizontal two-disc spreader. With a height of 1.4 meters, a width of 2.15 meters and a length of 7 meters, it has a loading space of around 21 cubic meters. The load compartment with sidewalls and floor made of fine-grain steel sits on a tandem chassis consisting of a hollow beam frame. The mechanical suspension of the axles and hydraulically sprung drawbar with pivotable drawbar ensure a high level of driving comfort and practicality.

Tests were carried out on the company’s standardized test rig at the Mühldorf plant. For the DLG test, four spreading materials, dry chicken manure, digestate, manure and compost were examined in various amounts. The test is based on the DLG test framework “Spreader for organic solids.”

The coefficients of variation determined for evaluating the lateral distribution are below 20% for all four spreading materials and are evaluated as good (+) for manure and compost for both application rates. The lateral distribution of chicken manure is rated very good (++) at a working width of 12 meters and rated passed (o) at 22 meters. In the case of digestate, the lateral distribution is rated very good (++) for an application rate of 5 tons per hectare and the associated working width of 16 meters and good (+) for 30 tons per hectare and a working width of 20 meters. These mostly very good and good results are honored by the DLG with the test mark DLG-approved.

New Kuhn VB 7100 Series round baler

Kuhn North America, Inc. introduces the new Kuhn VB 7100 Series round balers. The Kuhn VB 7160 4x5 and VB 7190 4x6 round balers offer high performance, producing dense bales and giving a high capacity in all crop conditions.

Produce bales with densities of up to 8.8 pounds per cubic foot (140 kilograms per cubic meter) in straw thanks to the company’s new patented i-DENSE system. This intelligent twin tensioning arm system, in combination with the measurements of the moisture sensor, automatically adapts the baling pressure according to the different crops and crop conditions, without intervention from the driver.

The i-DENSE system and the four belt + three roller design of the bale chamber ensure fast, secure and consistent bale formation in any crop condition. The net wrap, with active stretch technology, guarantees a consistent net tension and sturdy bale shape. The balers feature a fast tailgate operation – within four seconds, the bale is ejected and the tailgate is closed again.

These balers are ISOBUS-compatible with an intuitive user interface, easy to control via the ISOBUS terminal of the tractor or via the company’s CCI 50, CCI 800 or CCI 1200 terminals.

New digital platform empowers farmers’ seed decisions

To help farmers further maximize profit potential through data-driven seed recommendations, Syngenta and NK Seeds have launched the Cropwise Seed Selector.

The tool builds on technology that combines artificial intelligence, two decades of agronomic information and a simple user interface. Along with the added benefit of being connected to a larger network of digital technologies from Syngenta, the tool introduces NK resellers and customers to several new features designed to streamline and optimize the seed selection process, including satellite imagery for crop diagnostics and a tool that expedites field-by-field hybrid decisions.

An archive of agronomic information allows users of the tool to tailor their seed portfolio based on geographic location, soil productivity, precipitation levels, historic crop stress and performance of products by year and region. Users are able to adjust these factors to understand how a specific corn hybrid or soybean variety would perform under an array of different conditions.

The platform is adaptable, allowing retailers and farmers to proactively plan for weather volatility, soil variability and planting specifications by being able to see real results from real places. When employing the tool, users benefit from:

  • An unbiased assessment of NK product performance

  • Centralized access to product information and characteristics

  • Customized recommendations and comparisons specific to each field

  • Deepened customer connectivity

  • Added value through a no-cost online system
