What education are you bringing with you to this position?
In 2011, I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science with an emphasis in dairy management and production. I then attended Purdue University to earn my master’s degree in animal science with a concentration on dairy cattle nutrition.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I did not grow up on a farm, but I have been around livestock most of my life. I was involved in 4-H and FFA and continued to be heavily involved in agriculture throughout my collegiate career.

What territory will you cover?

I will work primarily in the thumb region of eastern Michigan.

What are your new responsibilities?
I will help dairy producers reach their goals by providing nutrition and management consulting. I will also work with our team of nutritionists to provide on-farm service for current and future clients.

What previous positions have you held?
This is my first position since graduating from Purdue University.

Who has had the biggest impact on your career?
My parents, first and foremost, have always believed in me and told me I could do anything I put my mind to.

The many professors and mentors I had at Michigan State and Purdue were also very influential. They not only taught me the skills I use in my job every day, but they also shared their passion for the dairy industry and helped me develop my own.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I will bring producers the latest research being conducted at our universities and help them develop practical feeding applications for their operations. I will use my knowledge of alternative feeding options and byproduct feeds to maximize profitability in our producers’ feeding programs.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My goal is to use my current knowledge and skillset to help our customers achieve their production and management goals. I also want to continue building upon my knowledge of dairy production in Michigan.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself continually developing relationships with our customers and helping them achieve their goals in a profitable way. I also see myself becoming more integrated within the Michigan dairy industry. PD
